Clapham Junction has fast direct trains to Gatwick, which is great for one person travelling light. But getting to the Junction with cases, children or a buggy, and then up and down the station stairs, is where the train gets hard.

By public transport: Train from Clapham Junction to Gatwick, about 30–40 min plus the trip to the station. The catch is getting to the Junction with luggage, and station stairs. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 50 min, or 80 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
