From HA8 the driver either takes the A41 and M1 up to the M25 and round to junction 15, or heads down to the A406 and west to the A40 and M4. The choice depends on live traffic, and the fare stays the same.
By Tube it is the Northern line all the way into central London, then the Piccadilly or Elizabeth line out west, which is a very long journey with luggage.
By public transport: Tube/Overground from Edgware (Northern line), changing to the Elizabeth line or Piccadilly line, about 75–110 min. The catch is at least one change, stairs and crowded trains with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 35 min, or 65 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Edgware (HA8) the route runs the A41 and M1 to the M25 and round to junction 15, or the A406 and A40. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows M4, the M25 and the M1 back to Edgware, or the A40 and A406. That is about 17 miles: reckon 35 min off-peak and 65 min when the M25 between junctions 16 and 21 is busy.

The M25 between junctions 16 and 21 is the busy stretch in the morning. For El Al and BA flights to Tel Aviv, allow about three hours at the airport.
