From NW11 the driver joins the A406 North Circular at Brent Cross, heads west to Hanger Lane and the A40, then takes the M4 into Heathrow. When the North Circular is heavy, the M1 and M25 are a quick alternative.
Heathrow is the main London airport for El Al and British Airways flights to Tel Aviv, and for New York. By Tube it is the Northern line into central London and then the Piccadilly or Elizabeth line, with at least one change.
By public transport: Tube/Overground from Golders Green (Northern line), changing to the Elizabeth line or Piccadilly line, about 75–110 min. The catch is at least one change, stairs and crowded trains with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 35 min, or 65 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Golders Green (NW11) the route runs along the A406 North Circular to Hanger Lane, the A40 and the M4, or up to the M25 when the North Circular is heavy. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows M4 and A40 east, then the A406 back to Golders Green. That is about 14 miles: reckon 35 min off-peak and 65 min when the A406 between Brent Cross and Hanger Lane is busy.
