From High Street Kensington the Tube to Heathrow means the District or Circle line to Earl's Court and then the Piccadilly line, which stops more than a dozen times on the way. It is cheap, but slow with cases.
By car the driver joins the Cromwell Road almost at once and follows the A4 onto the M4. Heathrow's terminals are signed from junction 4, and the driver drops you at the right departures door.
By public transport: District or Circle line to Earl's Court, then the Piccadilly line to Heathrow, about 55–70 min. The catch is a change at Earl's Court and a long, stopping ride with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 35 min, or 60 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Kensington (W8) the route runs west along the Cromwell Road and the A4 onto the M4 at Chiswick. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows the M4 and A4 east, then the Cromwell Road back to W8. That is about 14 miles: reckon 35 min off-peak and 60 min when the Hogarth Roundabout and the Cromwell Road is busy.

The Cromwell Road and the Hogarth Roundabout slow down between 07:00 and 09:30. For long-haul morning departures we suggest leaving about three and a half hours before take-off.

Kensington runs from Kensington Gardens and the palace down the High Street to Earls Court Road, with garden squares, mansion blocks and embassies in between.
