The Piccadilly line runs direct from King's Cross St Pancras to Heathrow, but it takes well over an hour. The Elizabeth line from nearby Farringdon is quicker, with a change.
By car the driver heads west along the Euston and Marylebone Roads onto the Westway, then out to the airport on the A312 or M4.
By public transport: Piccadilly line from King's Cross St Pancras direct to Heathrow, about 60–75 min. The catch is a long, stopping ride with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 50 min, or 80 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of King's Cross (N1C / WC1) the route runs west along the Euston and Marylebone Roads to the A40 Westway, then the A312 or M4. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows the M4 or A312 and the A40 Westway back to the Euston Road. That is about 18 miles: reckon 50 min off-peak and 80 min when the Euston Road and the Westway is busy.
