Green Park is one stop on the Victoria line from Victoria station, where the Gatwick Express leaves. The train is fast, but getting to it with a trolley's worth of luggage through Victoria is the hard part.
The driver heads down Park Lane, crosses the river at Vauxhall Bridge and follows the A23 to the M23, dropping you at the North or South Terminal.
By public transport: Victoria line from Green Park to Victoria, then the Gatwick Express, about 50–65 min. The catch is Victoria station with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 70 min, or 105 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Mayfair (W1) the route runs down Park Lane, over Vauxhall Bridge and south on the A23 to the M23. Coming back from Gatwick the driver follows the M23 and A23 north, over Vauxhall Bridge and up Park Lane. That is about 28 miles: reckon 70 min off-peak and 105 min when Vauxhall and the A23 through Streatham is busy.
