What business aviation's hilltop demands
BQH / 01Schedules that aren't schedules
Private jets move when principals decide — departures slide by hours, arrivals accelerate on tailwinds and shortened meetings, and no public board announces any of it. Our BQH operation runs on FBO liaison and tail-number tracking rather than timetables: the car repositions as the aircraft does, silently, so wheels-down always finds it waiting.
BQH / 02The kerb is a ramp
There's no arrivals hall theatre here — passengers step from handling lounges expecting the vehicle positioned, the driver briefed and the luggage transfer measured in seconds. Where airside protocols permit closer positioning, we coordinate it through the FBO; where they don't, the lounge door serves as the kerb. Either way, the handover is rehearsed.
BQH / 03Discretion is the product
This clientele's itineraries are commercially sensitive and personally private — name boards are coded or absent, destinations aren't discussed, and drivers practice professional amnesia as a condition of the work. Confidentiality here isn't a feature we advertise; it's the baseline beneath everything else.
BQH / 04A hilltop with country roads
The airfield crowns the North Downs ridge, reached by roads that are green-belt Kent rather than urban London — the A233's climbs, orbital junction choices, and lanes that surprise first-time chauffeurs. Local ridge fluency converts the pastoral approach from variable into constant.
BQH / 05The meeting clock rules everything
BQH exists to compress time — a jet lands so a principal makes a City closing or a West End dinner. Ground timing is therefore calculated backwards from the commitment, not forwards from touchdown, with orbital and river-crossing arbitration done live. The destination's clock is the only one that counts.
BQH / 06Heritage overhead
The airfield's Battle of Britain soul survives in its heritage hangar, memorial chapel and airshow moments — occasionally putting Spitfires in the circuit above business jets. It changes nothing operationally and everything atmospherically; drivers who can answer a passenger's question about the name's history are, we find, appreciated.
Biggin Hill journey times to the destinations that matter
Peak reflects London's orbital and river-crossing realities — with meeting-clock arbitration applied live on every run.
| Route | Off-peak | Peak reality | Dispatcher's margin note |
|---|---|---|---|
| The City & financial district | 50–65 min | 70–100 min | Meeting-clock timed; approach chosen live |
| Canary Wharf | 45–60 min | 65–95 min | River-crossing arbitration decisive |
| Mayfair & West End hotels | 55–70 min | 75–110 min | Door-specific briefing standard |
| Westminster & St James's | 55–70 min | 75–105 min | Event-closure calendar overlaid |
| Knightsbridge & Chelsea | 60–75 min | 80–115 min | Western finish; timed by hour |
| Sevenoaks & west Kent | 20–30 min | 30–45 min | Ridge-country home runs |
| Gatwick (aircraft repositioning) | 35–45 min | 50–75 min | Crew & connection shuttles routine |
| Heathrow (interline) | 60–75 min | 85–120 min | Orbital western arc; buffer enforced |
| Ascot & polo country | 65–80 min | 90–125 min | Season fixtures pre-briefed |
| Cotswolds estates | 2–2.5 hrs | 2.5–3.25 hrs | Country-house finish; gates pre-confirmed |
Ramp-side standards, boardroom manners
Departures, flown-to-schedule
- Slide-with-the-slot flexibility: When the departure moves, the car moves with it — no renegotiation, no surcharge theatre, just quiet repositioning as standard.
- Handling-desk liaison: We coordinate with the FBO on positioning and passenger readiness, so the drive ends exactly where the lounge begins.
- The right vehicle, briefed: Executive saloons to discreet MPVs, child seats to crew luggage — specified once at booking, delivered without reminder.
Arrivals, met like clockwork
- Tail-number tracking: The aircraft's actual progress — not a filed time — positions the driver; early tailwinds and late slides are absorbed invisibly.
- Coded-board discretion: Names appear as agreed references or not at all; itineraries stay unspoken; professional amnesia is the house style.
- Backwards-calculated delivery: The City closing or the curtain time governs the route; orbital and bridge choices are arbitrated live against the commitment's clock.
The departure moves two hours right; so does everything of ours, silently. Flexibility isn't an add-on in private aviation — it's the job.
WHEELS-DOWNThe jet turns off the runway; the car is already positioned per FBO liaison. Sixty seconds of luggage, and the meeting clock starts winning.
CITY DEADLINESBackwards arithmetic from the boardroom, live arbitration through London's arteries. The destination's clock is the only one displayed.
AIRSHOW DATESHeritage weekends put warbirds overhead and enthusiasts on the ridge roads. Pre-briefed routings keep business movements serene beneath the spectacle.
Four Biggin Hill briefs we execute weekly
BRIEF / AThe deal-day principals
Executives landing for hours, not days — signature, ceremony, departure. Backwards-timed City delivery, a rolling office in the back seat, and a driver who understands that this Tuesday may be worth more than the aircraft.
BRIEF / BThe family offices
Households moving between residences with staff, security liaison and luggage logistics attached — multi-vehicle coordination, gate-code confidentiality, and service that anticipates rather than asks. Continuity of care across every leg.
BRIEF / CThe flight departments
Corporate aviation teams needing dependable ground partners — crew positioning runs, repositioning shuttles between London's airfields, and invoicing that survives an audit. We serve the operation, not just the passenger.
BRIEF / DThe discreet occasions
Artists, athletes and public figures whose movements attract attention they'd rather avoid — unmarked arrivals, coded references, routes that skip the obvious. The passenger list stays private, at BQH and forever after.
Biggin Hill questions, answered properly
Can normal passengers fly from Biggin Hill? Not on airlines — the airfield hosts no scheduled services by design, dedicating itself to business and private aviation with handling lounges in place of terminals. Passengers arrive by charter, corporate jet or private arrangement, and the whole environment is built around that model: no queues, no crowds, no public boards. Our service is built around it too — FBO-coordinated, tail-tracked and discretion-first from booking onward.
How do you manage pickups when private jets change schedule constantly?By abandoning timetable thinking entirely: we track the tail number's actual progress and liaise with the handling desk, so the car repositions as the aircraft does — hours early, hours late, without renegotiation or drama. Slide-with-the-slot flexibility is the foundational discipline of business-aviation ground transport, and it's priced into our BQH service as standard rather than sold back as a premium.
How close to the aircraft can the car actually get? That's governed by the airfield's security protocols and arranged through the FBO case by case — where closer positioning is permitted for a given movement, we coordinate it; where it isn't, the handling-lounge door functions as the kerb and the transfer still takes seconds. What we control absolutely is readiness: briefed driver, positioned vehicle, luggage handled in one motion. The handover is rehearsed either way.
What does "discretion" mean in practice?Concretely: name boards carry agreed codes or nothing, destinations and passengers are never discussed with anyone — including within our own operation beyond need-to-know — and drivers practice professional amnesia as a condition of BQH work. Routing can avoid predictable points where attention gathers. None of this is performance; it's simply the baseline this clientele's commercial and personal privacy requires, applied uniformly.
How long to the City or the West End, realistically?Fifty to seventy minutes off-peak for the City, slightly longer to Mayfair, stretching toward the ninety-plus band in London's worst windows — figures we quote honestly because meeting-clock arithmetic depends on them. The craft lies in live arbitration: orbital versus arterial approaches, river-crossing choices, event-closure overlays, all decided rolling against your commitment's deadline rather than by preset habit. The destination's clock governs; the route obeys.
Is there really Battle of Britain history at the airfield? The most storied in Britain — Biggin Hill was the legendary fighter station of 1940, and the heritage survives in its memorial chapel, its heritage hangar's flying Spitfires and the airshow moments that occasionally grace the circuit. Operationally it changes nothing about your transfer; atmospherically it changes everything about the address. Our drivers know the story well enough to tell it, should the mood in the back seat invite history.

we protect them on the ground.

How to choose. Public transport wins on price for one traveller with hand luggage at 10am. A taxi usually wins when there are two or more of you (one fare for the car, not per person), when you have hold bags or a pushchair, for flights before the first train arrives or landings after the last one leaves, and when a change of train or a station without lifts would be a problem. Rail fares above are per adult; add £4–£6 per person for the DART/shuttle where shown, and remember engineering work most weekends.
