From E14 the driver takes the A12 north, joins the A406 and follows the M11 to junction 8. There is no central London driving at all.
By rail it is the Elizabeth line to Liverpool Street or the Jubilee line to Stratford, then the Stansted Express. Two trains and a platform change with luggage.

Out of Canary Wharf (E14) the route runs up the A12 and the North Circular to the M11. Coming back from Stansted the driver follows the M11 and A406, then the A12 back to E14. That is about 33 miles: reckon 45 min off-peak and 65 min when the A12 and Waterworks Corner on the A406 is busy.
