By rail it is Southeastern from Clock House or New Beckenham to London Bridge, the Northern line to Moorgate, a walk to Liverpool Street and then the Stansted Express.

The catch is three trains and a walk with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 65 min, or 100 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Beckenham (BR3) the route runs north through Lewisham to the Blackwall Tunnel, then the A12, the North Circular and the M11. Coming back from Stansted the driver follows the M11, the North Circular, the A12 and the Blackwall Tunnel back through Lewisham. That is about 40 miles: reckon 65 min off-peak and 100 min when Lewisham and the Blackwall Tunnel is busy.
