By public transport: Hammersmith & City line to Liverpool Street, then the Stansted Express, about 75–90 min. The catch is going into town first and a change. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 35 min, or 60 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of East Ham (E6) the route runs up the North Circular to the M11 and straight north to the airport. Coming back from Stansted the driver follows the M11 and the North Circular back to E6. That is about 27 miles: reckon 35 min off-peak and 60 min when the North Circular at Redbridge is busy.

East Ham runs from the station and High Street North, with its many South Asian shops and restaurants, past the Old Town Hall and Central Park to Wallend and Beckton, with Green Street and Upton Park on its western side.
High Street North is busy with buses and loading bays. For addresses on it, we pick up on a side street, and the driver calls when outside.
