The public-transport version starts at St Paul's (the Central line) and finishes at South Kensington (District, Circle and Piccadilly), with a 12-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that it is a pleasant walk in daylight and much less so leaving late. Door to door by road is about 20 min, or 40 min when the roads are full, with no changes, no stairs and no queue at the barrier. It is a fair fight on the way there. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.
