The public-transport version starts at Bank (Central, Northern, Waterloo & City and the DLR) and finishes at South Kensington (District, Circle and Piccadilly), with a 12-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that it is a pleasant walk in daylight and much less so leaving late. A car does the whole thing door to door in about 20 min, or 40 min when the roads are full - and it does it with your bags in the boot. If you are travelling light and early, the train usually wins on price. If you are in a group, carrying anything, or leaving after an event, the car wins on everything else.
