South Kensington station is on the Piccadilly line, which runs direct to Heathrow in about 45 minutes. It is cheap, but the trains are busy and the station has stairs and a long subway.
By car the driver goes straight out along the Cromwell Road, which turns into the A4 and then the M4, without a single turn off the main road.

Out of South Kensington (SW7) the route runs straight out along the Cromwell Road, the A4 and the M4. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows the M4 and A4 east, then the Cromwell Road back to SW7. That is about 15 miles: reckon 35 min off-peak and 60 min when the Cromwell Road and the Hogarth Roundabout is busy.
