By car the driver heads west on the A12 to the North Circular, then south to the A13 and Silvertown.
By rail the Elizabeth line runs from Brentwood to Stratford, where the DLR goes on towards the airport.
By public transport: Elizabeth line to Stratford, then the DLR, about 50–65 min. The catch is a change and the DLR with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 30 min, or 55 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Brentwood (CM13 to CM15) the route runs west on the A12 to the North Circular, then south to the A13 and Silvertown. Coming back from London City the driver follows the A13, the North Circular and the A12 back to Brentwood. That is about 20 miles: reckon 30 min off-peak and 55 min when the A12 and the North Circular is busy.
London City is small and quick. Your driver meets you just outside arrivals with a name board, usually within minutes of you leaving the aircraft.
Landing late or early makes no difference: the driver follows the real landing time at London City and takes you straight home to Brentwood.
The A12 and the North Circular is where delays usually happen. Early-morning runs are quicker; in rush hour allow the full 55 minutes.
