By public transport: Train to Liverpool Street, then the Elizabeth line to Farringdon, Thameslink and the DART, about 90–110 min. The catch is changing trains in central London with cases. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 50 min, or 75 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Brentwood (CM13 to CM15) the route runs onto the M25 at junction 28 and anticlockwise to junction 21, then up the M1. Coming back from Luton the driver follows the M1 and the M25 back to Brentwood. That is about 45 miles: reckon 50 min off-peak and 75 min when the M25 north of London is busy.
