The public-transport version starts at Covent Garden (the Piccadilly line) and finishes at Kensington (Olympia) (District and the Overground), with a 2-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that the District service to Olympia is sparse outside event days. The taxi is about 20 min, or 40 min when the roads are full, but it is one journey rather than three, and nobody stands up for any of it. If you are travelling light and early, the train usually wins on price. If you are in a group, carrying anything, or leaving after an event, the car wins on everything else.
