By rail you would go Monument (District and Circle) across to Marble Arch (the Central line), then a 10-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that which gate you leave by decides how far you walk. A car does the whole thing door to door in about 20 min, or 35 min when the roads are full - and it does it with your bags in the boot. It is a fair fight on the way there. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.
The usual line from Monument is the A3 then the A10, then A40 Westway, then Bayswater Road at the end. Roughly 5.8 miles, and the timing swings with the hour rather than the route: 20 min clear, 35 min loaded.

Parking at BST Hyde Park is limited and the surrounding streets are metered or permit-only, so self-driving usually costs more in time than the fare saves. Being dropped at the door and collected at an agreed point removes the whole problem.
