Victoria station, with the Gatwick Express and Southern trains, is a short walk from Pimlico. For one person with light bags it is a great option. With cases, children or an early flight, the walk and the station crowds are the hard part.
By car the driver crosses Vauxhall Bridge, heads through Stockwell and Streatham and joins the M23.
By public transport: Walk to Victoria, then the Gatwick Express, about 40–55 min. The catch is the walk to Victoria and its crowded concourse with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 60 min, or 90 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Pimlico (SW1V) the route runs over Vauxhall Bridge, through Stockwell and Streatham and down the A23 to the M23. Coming back from Gatwick the driver follows the M23 and A23 north, then Vauxhall Bridge back to Pimlico. That is about 25 miles: reckon 60 min off-peak and 90 min when Vauxhall and the A23 through Streatham is busy.
