From N15 the driver either heads west on the A406 to join the M1 at Brent Cross, or north on the A10 to the M25 and round to the M1. Both avoid central London, and the choice depends on live traffic.
Luton is popular for low-cost flights to Tel Aviv when airlines are operating the route, and for many European destinations. A car drops you right at the terminal, with no DART shuttle.
By public transport: Train to St Pancras or West Hampstead, Thameslink to Luton Airport Parkway, then the DART, about 80–110 min. The catch is three separate legs and the DART shuttle at the end. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 50 min, or 80 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of South Tottenham (N15) the route runs west on the A406 to the M1 at Brent Cross or up the A10 to the M25. Coming back from Luton the driver follows M1 south to the A406 east, or the M25 and A10. That is about 33 miles: reckon 50 min off-peak and 80 min when the A406 around Brent Cross is busy.
