The Oval is where the English cricket summer traditionally ends, and it is a far easier ground to reach from Heathrow than most people expect — a straight run in along the A4, over the river and down into Kennington. What is not easy is parking anywhere near it. A fixed-price car that tracks your flight and knows which of the gates on Harleyford Road and Kennington Oval are open on the day gets you to your seat before the first over instead of circling a residents' parking zone.
We run this route right through the season: Test matches, one-day internationals, T20 Blast nights for Surrey, the Hundred, county championship days and the corporate and conference business the ground does out of season. The fare is agreed before you book and includes meet & greet inside the terminal, flight tracking, 60 minutes of free waiting from landing, all tolls and the ULEZ charge.

Kennington sits just south of the river, which makes The Oval one of the more predictable central runs we quote from Heathrow. The fares below hold for every fixture in the calendar. There is no Test-match premium, no meter, and no late surcharge when a day-nighter runs past ten o'clock.

Prices include meet & greet in the terminal, flight tracking, 60 minutes of free waiting from landing, all road tolls and the ULEZ charge. Child seats are free on request. Waiting beyond the free hour is charged in fifteen-minute blocks at a rate shown on your confirmation before you book.Every terminal takes the same broad corridor to Kennington: M4 to the A4, in through Hammersmith, then either across at Vauxhall Bridge or along the south bank through Battersea depending on the hour. Terminal 4's position on the southern side of the airport occasionally helps here, because it feeds the A30 and the A3 corridor when the A4 is blocked — one of the few London destinations where that is true.

Times shown are typical off-peak. For an 11:00 Test start we aim to have you at the gates by 10:15, and for a 18:30 T20 we leave two hours because the inbound run collides with the evening peak at Vauxhall. The Oval has staged Test cricket since 1880 — the first ever on English soil — and it has closed the home summer almost every year since. It holds around 28,000 now, behind the OCS Stand and the new Lock and Laker Stand, with the Victorian gasholders still standing beyond the Vauxhall End as the most recognisable backdrop in English cricket. Surrey play their county and T20 Blast cricket here, and the ground is home to the Oval Invincibles in the Hundred.
Unlike Lord's, The Oval sits in a genuinely urban, well-connected pocket of inner south London, a few minutes from Vauxhall and a short walk from the Oval tube. That makes it easy to reach and impossible to park at. The whole of Kennington and Vauxhall is inside a controlled parking zone with match-day enforcement, the ground has no public car park, and Harleyford Road and the streets immediately around the boundary are managed by stewards on big days. Anyone driving themselves ends up a long way out and walking back in.
The rhythm of a day here differs sharply by format, and it changes the pick-up time more than the traffic does. A Test starts at 11:00 and runs to about 18:30; an ODI can start at 11:00 and finish under lights past nine; a T20 Blast night or a Hundred fixture starts around 18:30 and is done by 22:00. The Oval's evening cricket in particular draws a big, fast-arriving London crowd straight from work, which means the roads around Vauxhall are at their worst exactly when you need them. We build that into the booking rather than treating it as bad luck.
Oval station on the Northern line sits almost at the ground and is the obvious way in — and the worst way out, because it is a small station absorbing a full house. Vauxhall, ten minutes away, offers the Victoria line, National Rail to Waterloo and a large bus interchange, and is a far better bet at the close of play. Kennington station is a similar walk from the other side. Numerous bus routes run along Harleyford Road, Kennington Park Road and the Vauxhall gyratory.
For drop-off we work to whichever point the stewarding allows. Harleyford Road serves the Hobbs Gate and the north side. Kennington Oval, the road that curves round the ground itself, covers the eastern gates and often stays clearer. Clayton Street and the streets towards the Vauxhall end are the fallback on the biggest days and still leave only a short, flat walk. Your driver will tell you which one you are heading for before you set off.
The Oval has been substantially rebuilt over the last twenty years, so accessible seating, lifts and step-free routes are better here than at most older grounds; arrange them in advance through Surrey's ticket office. On the transfer side, tell us what you need — a drop as close to a specific gate as stewards permit, extra time getting out of the car, space for a folding wheelchair — and we allocate a suitable vehicle rather than sending whatever is nearest. If you arrive early, Kennington Park is a two-minute walk and the pubs along Kennington Road are a far better wait than the concourse.
The Oval's calendar is published well in advance, and each format implies a different departure time from the airport. Here is how we plan each one.
We track your flight from departure, so the pick-up time moves automatically with delays, early arrivals and diversions. Your driver parks and waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, and the 60 minutes of free waiting runs from actual touchdown rather than from the time you booked. Nothing to find, no kerbside scramble, no meter running while you queue at the border.
From Terminals 2 and 3 we join the M4 within a couple of minutes; Terminal 5 adds a short run round the western perimeter; Terminal 4 comes up the southern side, and on a bad A4 day that can be turned into an advantage by taking the A30 and A3 corridor instead. The motorway stretch to Chiswick is usually the quickest fifteen minutes of the journey.
The decision point is where we cross. On a clear run we stay on the A4 through Hammersmith and Kensington and come over at Vauxhall Bridge, which drops you almost at the ground. When central London is loaded we drop south earlier, run along the south bank through Battersea and Nine Elms, and approach The Oval from the west without touching the West End at all. Both work; the difference on a bad evening is twenty minutes or more.
Harleyford Road runs along the north side of the ground past the Hobbs Gate, and on quieter days we can set you down within sight of it. On a Test or a sold-out T20 the immediate frontage is stewarded, so we drop at the nearest clear point — on Kennington Oval, on Clayton Street, or towards the Vauxhall end — leaving a two or three minute walk. The driver names your gate before you get out so you are not walking the wrong way round a circular ground.
Oval tube is a small Northern line station a couple of minutes from the ground and it is comprehensively overwhelmed at the close of play; Vauxhall is bigger but further. Pre-book the return and we set a pick-up point slightly out from the ground — a named side street or a corner on Kennington Road — timed to the finish. For a Test we hold a flexible window, because nobody can tell you in advance exactly when the last ball of the day will be bowled.
If you are landing on the morning of an 11:00 start, take the earlier flight. The A4 through Hammersmith at nine in the morning can add half an hour without warning, and the first session of a Test at The Oval is not one to watch from a car.The Oval is easy to reach and impossible to park at. That is exactly the gap a fixed-price transfer fills.
The Oval's position south of the river changes the airport picture usefully. Gatwick is roughly 27 miles straight up the M23 and A23 and is often quicker than the raw distance suggests — typically 60 to 80 minutes. London City is about 9 miles and the closest of all, though the run crosses the whole of the east. Luton at around 37 miles and Stansted at around 45 miles come down the M1 and M11 from the north. All are quoted on the same fixed, inclusive basis.
Arriving by cruise or from another city? We run fixed-price transfers into London from Southampton, Dover, Portsmouth and Harwich, and from the main rail termini — Waterloo is barely two miles from the ground. If your group is arriving on separate flights we collect each one and deliver everybody to the same hotel or the same gate; send the flight numbers and we handle the timings.
From £58 for a saloon carrying up to four passengers from Terminal 5, £61 from Terminals 2 and 3 and £62 from Terminal 4. Executive cars start at £75, MPVs at £80 and 8-seater minibuses at £95. Every fare is fixed before you book and includes meet & greet, flight tracking, 60 minutes of free waiting, tolls and the ULEZ charge.
Typically 50 to 65 minutes off-peak for about 18 miles. In the morning peak or before an evening T20 allow 80 to 100 minutes. For an 11:00 Test start we recommend leaving Heathrow by 09:15.
There is no public car park at the ground, and Kennington and Vauxhall sit inside a controlled parking zone that is enforced on match days. The streets closest to the boundary are stewarded on big fixtures. A pre-booked drop-off removes the problem entirely.
Whichever one your ticket names. The Hobbs Gate on Harleyford Road is the main ceremonial entrance and the busiest; the Alec Stewart Gate and the Peter May Gate serve other sides and are frequently quicker. Tell us the gate when you book and we approach from that side.
Yes. These start around 18:30 or 19:00, which puts the run from Heathrow squarely in the evening peak at Hammersmith and Vauxhall. We allow a full two hours as standard for evening cricket and pick the river crossing live rather than following a satnav's first suggestion.
Yes, and we recommend it here. Oval tube is small and completely swamped at the close, and Vauxhall is a longer walk. We agree a pick-up point a short distance from the ground, timed to the finish, with a flexible window for Test matches where the close of play moves with the over rate.
The pick-up adjusts automatically. We track the flight from departure, so delays, early arrivals and diversions are already accounted for, and the 60 minutes of free waiting starts from the actual landing time. The fare does not change.
Yes. MPVs take up to six passengers with luggage and 8-seater minibuses take up to seven. A full kit bag takes roughly the room of a large suitcase, so tell us what you are bringing and we size the vehicle properly. Child seats are free on request.
Oval on the Northern line is about two minutes' walk, and Vauxhall — Victoria line, National Rail and the bus interchange — is around ten. Both are heavily congested immediately after a big fixture, which is the main reason spectators pre-book a car for the way out.
Yes. The ground hosts conferences, dinners, weddings and corporate days throughout the year in the pavilion and the stands. Give us the time on your invitation and we work back from it exactly as we would for a fixture.
Yes. Gatwick is roughly 27 miles up the M23, London City about 9 miles across the east, Luton around 37 miles and Stansted around 45 miles. We also run fixed-price transfers into London from the Southampton, Dover, Portsmouth and Harwich cruise terminals.
From £58, fixed, with the river crossing chosen on the day and a driver waiting in arrivals with your name on a board. Book the return with it and the close of play sorts itself out.
