The driver follows the A40 Westway and Marylebone Road, crosses the City and takes the Limehouse Link to Silvertown.
By rail it is the Central line from East Acton or North Acton to Bank and then the DLR to the airport.
By public transport: Central line to Bank, then the DLR, about 50–60 min. The catch is a long interchange at Bank. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 50 min, or 75 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Acton (W3) the route runs along the A40 Westway and Marylebone Road, through the City and down the Limehouse Link. Coming back from London City the driver follows the Limehouse Link, the City and the Westway back to W3. That is about 16 miles: reckon 50 min off-peak and 75 min when the Westway and the City is busy.
