By rail the DLR runs from Bow Church to Poplar, where you change for trains to London City Airport.
By public transport: DLR from Bow Church, changing at Poplar for London City Airport, about 25–35 min. The catch is a change at Poplar. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 15 min, or 25 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Bow (E3) the route runs down the A12 and along the A13 to Silvertown. Coming back from London City the driver follows the A13 and A12 back to Bow. That is about 5 miles: reckon 15 min off-peak and 25 min when the Bow Interchange and the A13 is busy.
