The driver follows the North Circular east almost to its end at Beckton, then takes the A13 a short way to Silvertown, avoiding central London entirely.
By rail the Jubilee line runs direct from Wembley Park to Canning Town, where the DLR goes on to the airport.
By public transport: Jubilee line to Canning Town, then the DLR, about 50–60 min. The catch is a change at Canning Town. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 45 min, or 75 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Wembley (HA9 / HA0) the route runs east along the North Circular all the way to Beckton, then the A13 to Silvertown. Coming back from London City the driver follows the A13 and the North Circular back west to Wembley. That is about 20 miles: reckon 45 min off-peak and 75 min when the North Circular through Walthamstow and Redbridge is busy.
