By rail it is the Metropolitan line from Wembley Park direct to Liverpool Street and then the Stansted Express.
By public transport: Metropolitan line to Liverpool Street, then the Stansted Express, about 80–95 min. The catch is a change at Liverpool Street with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 55 min, or 90 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Wembley (HA9 / HA0) the route runs east round the North Circular to the M11. Coming back from Stansted the driver follows the M11 and the North Circular back west to Wembley. That is about 40 miles: reckon 55 min off-peak and 90 min when the North Circular is busy.
