By rail you would go Sloane Square (the District and Circle lines) across to Fulham Broadway (the District line), then a 8-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that the station is one-in-one-out after big games. A car does the whole thing door to door in about 10 min, or 15 min when the roads are full - and it does it with your bags in the boot. If you are travelling light and early, the train usually wins on price. If you are in a group, carrying anything, or leaving after an event, the car wins on everything else.
From Chelsea it is barely a journey on paper - A4 Talgarth Road, then Fulham Road and you are there. Fulham Road closes either side of kick-off and the ground sits inside the Congestion Charge zone, which is already included in the fare. What the fixed fare buys you is a driver who already knows which side of the closure to sit on.
In Chelsea the pavement outside your door is often the one place a car cannot stop. We agree the point in SW3, SW10 up front and the driver is on it, not circling.

If you were thinking of driving yourself: Stamford Bridge sits inside a matchday or event-day controlled parking zone, on-site spaces are pre-book only and go early, and the residential streets around it are permit-holders only with active enforcement. Pre-booked both ways, none of that is your problem.
Doors are usually an hour before the match. Working back, that means leaving Chelsea around 15 min plus that hour on a busy night - and booking the return at the same time, because the road out is slower than the road in.
