Farringdon is on the Elizabeth line, which runs direct to Heathrow in about 35 minutes. For one traveller with a small bag, it is hard to beat.
The car suits families, groups and early departures. The driver heads along the Euston and Marylebone Roads to the Westway and out to the airport, collecting you from your door.
By public transport: Elizabeth line from Farringdon direct to Heathrow, about 35–45 min plus the walk to Farringdon. The catch is busy trains at peak times with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 50 min, or 80 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Clerkenwell (EC1) the route runs along the Euston and Marylebone Roads to the A40 Westway, then the A312 or M4. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows the M4 or A312 and the Westway, then the Euston Road back to EC1. That is about 18 miles: reckon 50 min off-peak and 80 min when the Euston Road and the Westway is busy.
