The public-transport version starts at Holborn (Central and Piccadilly) and finishes at Fulham Broadway (the District line), with a 8-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that the station is one-in-one-out after big games. The taxi is about 20 min, or 40 min when the roads are full, but it is one journey rather than three, and nobody stands up for any of it. Two people with hand luggage should take the train. Three or more, or anyone with a case, and the fixed fare splits better than the tickets do.
From the WC1V, WC2 streets the route runs via the A40 then the A201, finishing on A4 Talgarth Road, then Fulham Road. That is about 6.7 miles. Reckon 20 min off-peak and 40 min if you are crossing town at the wrong moment.
Pickups in Holborn land inside the Congestion Charge zone, which is already in the price - and on WC1V, WC2 the driver will name a legal stopping point rather than idle on a red route.
Britannia Road or the Chelsea Farmers Market end of the King's Road, clear of the Fulham Road closure. Fulham Road closes either side of kick-off and the ground sits inside the Congestion Charge zone, which is already included in the fare. Your driver sends the exact standing point and the registration before they set off, so you are not circling a car park looking for a number plate.
Address: Fulham Road, Chelsea, SW6 1HS.
If you were thinking of driving yourself: Stamford Bridge sits inside a matchday or event-day controlled parking zone, on-site spaces are pre-book only and go early, and the residential streets around it are permit-holders only with active enforcement. Being dropped at the door and collected at an agreed point removes the whole problem.
Doors are usually an hour before the match. Working back, that means leaving Holborn around 40 min plus that hour on a busy night - and booking the return at the same time, because the road out is slower than the road in.

No. The fare is fixed when you book. Traffic, tolls and the hour are our problem, not a line on your bill.
The driver waits. We watch venue finish times rather than working to a fixed clock, so a late curtain does not leave you stranded or cost you extra.
