From Marble Arch the Edgware Road runs straight north to Staples Corner, where the M1 begins. It is the most direct way out of the West End to Luton.
By rail you would take the Victoria line from Green Park to King's Cross St Pancras, Thameslink to Luton Airport Parkway and then the DART shuttle.
By public transport: Victoria line to King's Cross, Thameslink to Luton Airport Parkway, then the DART, about 65–85 min. The catch is three separate legs with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 55 min, or 85 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Mayfair (W1) the route runs up Park Lane to Marble Arch and north on the Edgware Road to the M1 at Staples Corner. Coming back from Luton the driver follows the M1 to Staples Corner and down the Edgware Road to Marble Arch. That is about 33 miles: reckon 55 min off-peak and 85 min when the Edgware Road and Brent Cross is busy.
Luton has one terminal. Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name board, so there is no DART shuttle or bus to work out.
