By rail it is Thameslink from Mill Hill Broadway to Farringdon and then the Elizabeth line to Heathrow, two trains with a change in central London.
By car the driver heads down to Brent Cross, west along the North Circular to the A40 and out to Heathrow, without going into central London.
By public transport: Thameslink to Farringdon, then the Elizabeth line to Heathrow, about 65–80 min. The catch is a change in central London with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 35 min, or 60 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Mill Hill (NW7) the route runs down to the North Circular at Brent Cross and west to the A40, then the A312 to Heathrow. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows the A312 and A40, the North Circular and the A41 back to Mill Hill. That is about 19 miles: reckon 35 min off-peak and 60 min when the North Circular around Hanger Lane is busy.
