By rail it is the Northern line from Colindale to Tottenham Court Road and then the Elizabeth line to Heathrow, a long trip into town and back out.
By car the driver heads down the Edgware Road to the North Circular, west to the A40 and out to Heathrow.
By public transport: Northern line to Tottenham Court Road, then the Elizabeth line to Heathrow, about 65–80 min. The catch is a long Tube ride into town and a change. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 30 min, or 55 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Colindale (NW9) the route runs down the Edgware Road to the North Circular and west to the A40, then the A312 to Heathrow. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows the A312 and A40, the North Circular and the Edgware Road back to NW9. That is about 16 miles: reckon 30 min off-peak and 55 min when the North Circular around Hanger Lane is busy.
