Junction 4 of the M1 is a few minutes from Colindale, so the driver is quickly on the motorway to junction 10.
By rail it is a bus to Hendon, Thameslink to Luton Airport Parkway and the DART shuttle to the terminal.
By public transport: Bus to Hendon, Thameslink to Luton Airport Parkway, then the DART, about 50–65 min. The catch is a bus, a train and the DART with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 25 min, or 40 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Colindale (NW9) the route runs onto the M1 at junction 4 and north to junction 10. Coming back from Luton the driver follows the M1 south to junction 4 and back to Colindale. That is about 22 miles: reckon 25 min off-peak and 40 min when the M1 at junction 4 is busy.
Luton has one terminal. Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name board, so there is no DART shuttle or bus to work out.
