By rail it is a bus to Mill Hill Broadway, Thameslink to Luton Airport Parkway and the DART shuttle to the terminal.
By public transport: Bus to Mill Hill Broadway, Thameslink to Luton Airport Parkway, then the DART, about 55–70 min. The catch is a bus, a train and the DART with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 30 min, or 50 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of North Finchley (N12) the route runs across Mill Hill to the M1 and north to junction 10. Coming back from Luton the driver follows the M1 south and back across Mill Hill to North Finchley. That is about 24 miles: reckon 30 min off-peak and 50 min when Mill Hill and the M1 at junction 4 is busy.

North Finchley centres on Tally Ho Corner, where Ballards Lane meets the High Road, with the artsdepot, a busy bus station and a long shopping street. Around it are family homes and flats towards Woodside Park, Friern Barnet and the Dollis Brook valley, home to a sizeable Jewish community.
Tally Ho Corner is a busy junction. For flats on the High Road or Ballards Lane, the driver may wait in a side street and call when outside.
