Out of High Barnet (EN5) the route runs north to the M25, west to the M1 and up to junction 10. Coming back from Luton the driver follows the M1 and M25 back to South Mimms and Barnet. That is about 22 miles: reckon 25 min off-peak and 40 min when the M25 at the A1 and M1 junctions is busy.

High Barnet is the old market town at the top of the Great North Road, with the High Street and the Spires shopping centre, Barnet Hospital, and the historic greens of Hadley and Monken Hadley. It is close to the M25, which makes it quicker to reach several airports without crossing London.
