Out of St Albans (AL1 to AL4) the route runs north on the A1081 through Harpenden to the airport. Coming back from Luton the driver follows the A1081 back through Harpenden to St Albans. That is about 12 miles: reckon 20 min off-peak and 30 min when the A1081 through Harpenden is busy.
