By public transport it is about 20 minutes from Watford Junction to London Euston, then a walk to St Pancras, Thameslink and the DART.

Out of Watford (WD17 to WD19 / WD24 / WD25) the route runs onto the M1 at junction 5 and north to junction 10 for the airport. Coming back from Luton the driver follows the M1 back to junction 5 and Watford. That is about 18 miles: reckon 25 min off-peak and 40 min when the M1 between junctions 6a and 10 is busy.
Luton has one terminal. Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name board, so there is no DART shuttle or bus to work out.
Landing late or early makes no difference: the driver follows the real landing time at Luton and takes you straight home to Watford.
The M1 between junctions 6a and 10 is where delays usually happen. Early-morning runs are quicker; in rush hour allow the full 40 minutes.
