Thameslink runs direct from St Pancras to Luton Airport Parkway, where the DART shuttle takes you to the terminal.
By car the driver heads north through Camden and Archway to the A1, then the North Circular and the M1, straight to the terminal door.
By public transport: Thameslink to Luton Airport Parkway, then the DART, about 40–50 min. The catch is the DART transfer with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 55 min, or 85 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of St Pancras International (N1C) the route runs north through Camden and Archway to the A1, then the North Circular and the M1. Coming back from Luton the driver follows the M1, the North Circular and the A1 back through Archway to St Pancras. That is about 33 miles: reckon 55 min off-peak and 85 min when Camden and Archway is busy.
Luton has one terminal. Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name board, so there is no DART shuttle or bus to work out.
