By public transport: Northern line to Bank, then the DLR, about 35–45 min. The catch is a long interchange at Bank. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 30 min, or 50 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of St Pancras International (N1C) the route runs east along City Road and through the City to the Highway and the Limehouse Link. Coming back from London City the driver follows the Limehouse Link, the Highway and the City back to St Pancras. That is about 9 miles: reckon 30 min off-peak and 50 min when City Road and the City is busy.
