The driver heads east along the Euston Road and City Road, through the edge of the City and down the Limehouse Link to Silvertown.
By rail it is the Northern line to Bank and the DLR to the airport, a single change that works well for one person with a small bag.
By public transport: Northern line to Bank, then the DLR, about 30–40 min. The catch is a change at Bank, one of the deepest and busiest stations. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 35 min, or 55 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Euston (NW1) the route runs east along City Road to the Limehouse Link and Silvertown. Coming back from London City the driver follows the A13 and Limehouse Link back through the City to Euston. That is about 10 miles: reckon 35 min off-peak and 55 min when City Road and the Limehouse Link is busy.
