The quickest rail option is a short walk to St Pancras for Thameslink straight to Gatwick. It is good value for one person, but the walk between stations and busy trains are hard work with several cases.
By car the driver heads south through Bloomsbury and Holborn, crosses the Thames and follows the A23 to the M23. You are collected at the kerb and dropped at your terminal.
By public transport: Walk to St Pancras, then Thameslink to Gatwick, about 55–75 min. The catch is a walk between stations and crowded trains with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 70 min, or 105 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Euston (NW1) the route runs south through Bloomsbury and Holborn, over Waterloo or Vauxhall Bridge and down the A23 to the M23. Coming back from Gatwick the driver follows the M23 and A23 north, over the river and up through Holborn to NW1. That is about 30 miles: reckon 70 min off-peak and 105 min when the Euston Road, Holborn and the A23 at Streatham is busy.

Central London is the slow part of this run, especially Holborn and the approach to the bridges. For morning flights allow the full 105 minutes, less for early starts before 06:00.
