By rail it is the Northern line from Archway to London Bridge and then Thameslink to Gatwick, one change at a busy station.
By car the driver heads down the Holloway Road, through King's Cross and Holborn, over Blackfriars Bridge and along the A23 to the M23.
By public transport: Northern line to London Bridge, then Thameslink to Gatwick, about 70–85 min. The catch is a change at London Bridge with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 75 min, or 110 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Archway (N19) the route runs down the Holloway Road through King's Cross and Holborn, over Blackfriars Bridge and along the A23 to the M23. Coming back from Gatwick the driver follows the M23 and A23 north, Blackfriars Bridge, Holborn and the Holloway Road back to Archway. That is about 33 miles: reckon 75 min off-peak and 110 min when King's Cross, Holborn and Streatham is busy.
