The driver heads up the M11 to the M25 and clockwise over the Dartford Crossing to the M23, or through the Blackwall Tunnel and down the A21 when that is quicker.

Out of Woodford (IG8 / E18) the route runs the M11 and M25 clockwise via Dartford, or the A406 and Blackwall Tunnel to the A21 and M25. Coming back from Gatwick the driver follows M23 and M25 anticlockwise via Dartford to the M11 and Woodford. That is about 40 miles: reckon 70 min off-peak and 100 min when the Dartford Crossing is busy.
