The driver takes the Westway into the Marylebone and Euston Roads, then City Road and the Limehouse Link to Silvertown.
By rail it is the Central line to Bank and the DLR to the airport, a single change that works well for one traveller with a cabin bag.
By public transport: Central line to Bank, then the DLR, about 40–50 min. The catch is a change at Bank, one of the deepest stations on the network. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 45 min, or 70 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Notting Hill (W11) the route runs along the Westway and Euston Road, down City Road and through the Limehouse Link. Coming back from London City the driver follows the A13 and Limehouse Link, then City Road and the Westway back to Notting Hill. That is about 14 miles: reckon 45 min off-peak and 70 min when the Euston Road and City Road is busy.
London City is small and quick. Your driver meets you just outside arrivals with a name board, usually within minutes of you leaving the aircraft.

Notting Hill spreads north from Notting Hill Gate through the pastel terraces around Portobello Road to Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Park. There are many small boutique hotels on Pembridge Square and Pembridge Gardens, and plenty of family homes on the garden squares.
Portobello Road and Westbourne Grove are narrow and busy, especially on Saturdays when the market is on. We agree a pickup point on a side street if your front door is on a market street.
