By rail you would go Balham (the Northern line and Southern) across to Watford Junction (London Overground and National Rail), then a connecting bus at the far end. The catch is that the shuttle bus from the station only runs to tour times, so one missed connection is a missed slot. Door to door by road is about 50 min, or 1h 20m when the roads are full, with no changes, no stairs and no queue at the barrier. It is a fair fight on the way there. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.
From the SW12 streets the route runs via the A24 then the A205, finishing on M1 J6 or M25 J21a, then A4008 and Studio Tour Drive. Roughly 26.9 miles, and the timing swings with the hour rather than the route: 50 min clear, 1h 20m loaded.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London has its own car park, but it fills from mid-morning in school holidays and at weekends, and the approach road backs up before the barrier does. A drop-off and a booked return sidesteps it entirely.
