By rail you would go Brixton (the Victoria line) across to Selhurst (National Rail), then a 12-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that three stations serve the ground and none is close. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.

If you were thinking of driving yourself: Selhurst Park sits inside a matchday or event-day controlled parking zone, on-site spaces are pre-book only and go early, and the residential streets around it are permit-holders only with active enforcement.
