By rail it is the Piccadilly line from Leicester Square or Piccadilly Circus direct to Heathrow, a few minutes' walk from the station, or the Bakerloo line to Paddington for the Heathrow Express.
By car the driver heads along Pall Mall to Hyde Park Corner, then through Knightsbridge and along the Cromwell Road to the A4 and M4.
By public transport: Piccadilly line from Leicester Square to Heathrow, about 55–70 min. The catch is walking to Leicester Square and a long Tube ride. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 45 min, or 75 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Charing Cross (WC2N) the route runs along Pall Mall to Hyde Park Corner, then Knightsbridge, the Cromwell Road, the A4 and the M4. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows the M4, the A4 and the Cromwell Road, then Hyde Park Corner back to Charing Cross. That is about 16 miles: reckon 45 min off-peak and 75 min when Hyde Park Corner and the Cromwell Road is busy.
