The A40 Westway starts almost at the end of the Marylebone Road, so the driver is on an elevated dual carriageway within a few minutes of your door. From there it is the A312 or the M4 to the airport.
By rail you can take the Bakerloo line from Baker Street to Paddington for the Heathrow Express, or walk to Bond Street for the Elizabeth line. Both are fine for one traveller; with family luggage the car is simpler.
By public transport: Bakerloo line from Baker Street to Paddington, then the Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line, about 40–55 min. The catch is a change at Paddington with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 40 min, or 70 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Marylebone (W1 / NW1) the route runs west along the Marylebone Road onto the A40 Westway, then the A312 or M4 to Heathrow. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows the M4 or A312 and the A40 Westway back to the Marylebone Road. That is about 16 miles: reckon 40 min off-peak and 70 min when the Westway and the A40 at Hanger Lane is busy.

The Westway is quick early in the morning, but backs up towards Hanger Lane at rush hour. For long-haul flights, leave about three and a half hours before departure.
