By rail it is the DLR to Canary Wharf and then the Elizabeth line towards Heathrow. It is quick once you are on the train, but it means a change with cases.
By car the driver heads up to the Limehouse Link, along the Highway and the Embankment, and out on the Cromwell Road and the M4.

Out of Isle of Dogs (E14) the route runs up to the Limehouse Link, along the Highway and Embankment, then the Cromwell Road and the M4. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows the M4 and Cromwell Road, the Embankment, the Highway and the Limehouse Link back to E14. That is about 23 miles: reckon 60 min off-peak and 95 min when the Embankment and the Cromwell Road is busy.
