By car the driver follows the North Circular west to Hanger Lane, then the A40 and the A312 to the airport, avoiding central London.
By rail it is the Central line to Stratford and then the Elizabeth line direct to Heathrow.
By public transport: Central line to Stratford, then the Elizabeth line to Heathrow, about 65–80 min. The catch is a change at Stratford with luggage. A car does the whole trip door to door in about 65 min, or 100 min when the roads are full, with your bags in the boot.
Out of Leytonstone (E11) the route runs west along the North Circular to Hanger Lane, then the A40 and the A312 to the airport. Coming back from Heathrow the driver follows the A312, the A40 and the North Circular back east to E11. That is about 25 miles: reckon 65 min off-peak and 100 min when the North Circular is busy.
