By rail you would go Goodge Street (the Northern line) across to Hammersmith (District, Piccadilly and Circle), then a 3-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that it is genuinely close, so rail is a fair option on this one. The taxi is about 25 min, or 40 min when the roads are full, but it is one journey rather than three, and nobody stands up for any of it. It is a fair fight on the way there. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.
