By rail you would go Brixton (the Victoria line) across to Hammersmith (District, Piccadilly and Circle), then a 3-minute walk at the far end. The catch is that it is genuinely close, so rail is a fair option on this one. A car does the whole thing door to door in about 25 min, or 40 min when the roads are full - and it does it with your bags in the boot. It is a fair fight on the way there. On the way back, when several thousand people want the same platform, it stops being one.

Parking at Eventim Apollo is limited and the surrounding streets are metered or permit-only, so self-driving usually costs more in time than the fare saves. Being dropped at the door and collected at an agreed point removes the whole problem.
